There are 26 species and 2154 cultivars in the collection, which is split between two Nursery sites, Scroggy Wood and the above address.
The Collections and the Nursery are open all year round, but by appointment only.

The nursery has grown hostas since 1986. The majority of the plants are sourced directly from the breeder or other reputable Hosta wholesalers from around the world. The plants are manually divided and include some original stock plants. All plants are grown outside with no protection to produce good, strong root systems and in full sun, so throughout the summer the leaves show some signs of bleaching. The main nursery is 32m above sea level and looks right out to the Irish Sea, so does not get much frost.  The nursery tries where possible to avoid the use of chemicals, employing organic pest and disease control instead. It is powered off grid by solar in order to lessen the reliability on local power companies and to be more eco-friendly.

Hosta ‘Bali-Hai' is one of the Nursey's first introductions. It was trialled for ten years before it was named in order to ensure ithat t came back true every year. It is a mini to small gold leaved Hosta with dark purple flowers, blooming later in season. It forms a tight carpet mound of foliage and is a good grower.
