Plant Profile
Hemerocallis 'Janice Brown'
In the Small Flowered category of daylilies is the award winning 'Janice Brown'.
This is a diploid which produces lots of ruffled pink flowers with a large, circular deeper pink eyezone and a green throat. It was introduced in 1986 by E.C. Brown and awarded the Stout Medal in 1994. The Stout Medal is the highest accolade a daylily can obtain and only one is awarded each year.
The flowers are 4.25"(11cm) across and are produced on scapes (flower stems) 21"(53cm) high, mainly in Midseason. The foliage is classed as semi-evergreen.
This daylily is an excellent garden plant, producing its beautiful rounded, gently recurved flowers for many weeks when established. It would look stunning planted in a border backed with the lilac blue flowers of Penstemon heterophyllus 'Catherine de la Mare' and in front planted with Heuchera 'Obsidian' with black-purple foliage for contrast or H. 'Pinot Noir' with silver-grey foliage and darker veins.
