Hemerocallis 'Aliquippa'

'Aliquippa' (J. Baxter 2004) is one of the many wonderful daylilies derived from Fran Harding's superlative 'Forestlake Ragamuffin'. It has been attracting much favourable comment and become highly sought-after following its introduction.

With its soft rose-pink colouration, darker towards the petal edges, the somewhat narrow petals are encrusted at their edges in a conflagration of gold hooks, teeth and tentacles. Unusually, the sepal edges are lined with cream-white teeth. Without a doubt this is a showy and elaborate cultivar that deserves a site where its intricacies can be admired.

Unlike some of the varieties with complex 'structural' edges, this hardy dormant always shows a strikingly elaborate edge and also opens well in the cooler summer conditions of the English garden even in drought conditions.
